Conigital Group has been awarded funding by the UK Government via Innovate to deliver an innovative and cutting edge AI solution for automated vehicles as part of its driverless vehicle platform.

The Innovation Birmingham-based SME is developing a range of inclusive and accessible solutions, including a virtual concierge, (called Gemma similar to KIT from the popular Knight Rider series), a patented 4D tactile map for blind and partially sighted users, a Mobility as a Service app, as well as a fleet management system facilitating the coordination and the telematic health of autonomous vehicles. read more

More than 2,000 of the UK’s leading innovators, business leaders and investors attended the two-day event in Manchester alongside the Innovate UK chief executive Dr Ruth McKernan  and Keith Clark, Secretary of State for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy.

Innovate 2016, hosted by the Department for International Trade and Innovate UK, featured 25 new innovation launches by UK businesses. Amongst them was the Conigital Group, introducing the driverless revolution and the next generation of Autonomous Heathrow PODs addressing Mobility challenges such as congestion, emissions and air quality faced by cities and high traffic destinations like shopping centres and airports. read more

Conigital Group, part of an all British consortium led by Westfield Sports Cars, Heathrow, Birmingham City University, Fusion Processing and Creative Example, has secured a £2.2 million project to bring state-of-the-art driverless cars to the streets of Birmingham.

Project INSIGHT is one of 8 projects awarded a total of £20 million in funding from the government’s £100 million Intelligent Mobility Fund. They range from developing autonomous shuttles to carry visually-impaired passengers using advanced sensors and control systems, to new simulation trials for autonomous pods to increase uptake and improve real-world trials. read more
